JavaScript jQuery Basics Working with jQuery Collections The .each() method

How to add an input element before each li tag using jQuery

Since I am using the .each() method, shouldn't my code generate an input element before each li tag, as opposed to having them all grouped together before the first li tag? Can somebody explain what i'm doing wrong

index.html
<!DOCTYPE html>
<html lang="en">
<head>
    <title>Document</title>
    <link rel="stylesheet" href="style.css">
</head>
<body>
    <h2>My Favorite Things</h2>

    <ul class="favorite-things">
        <li>Kittens</li>
        <li>Rainbows</li>
        <li>Unicorns</li>
        <li>Sprinkles</li>
    </ul>

    <script
    src="jquery-3.2.1.min.js"></script>
    <script src="app.js"></script>
</body>
</html>
app.js
$('.favorite-things li').each(function() {
  const checkbox = $('<input></input>').attr('type', 'checkbox');
  $(this).parent().prepend(checkbox);
});

But the "parent" element is the list itself:

  $(this).prepend(checkbox); // put checkbox in front of the li (not the parent of the li)

Oh, right... duhh. Thanks for pointing out my obvious mistake lol
