How to Build a Two Sided Marketplace

I am currently working a two sided marketplace website. I am still learning how to code, but I am not sure if this project would be easier to do with Ruby or PHP.

I would appreciate if someone could provide some feedback about the project or mention some helpful resources to write the code for the project.

What do you mean by two sided marketplace?

By two sided marketplace, I mean building a website like elance, Fiverr, or Ooomf. They have a platform that connects people.
