How to cache images and files on my website?

What shall I do, to make my website caching images, and other files, so it can load faster? do I have to make a new file like .htaccess? and where do I have to place it?

The circumstances are important, a general method could be: Cache-Control: max-age=number of seconds and optionally equivalent Expires: header. header('Cache-control: max-age='.(60*60*24*365)); header('Expires: '.the datetime of expiration); You need to create your own method to work with the cache, you may find good info about cache here:
