JavaScript JavaScript Basics (Retired) Storing and Tracking Information with Variables Using String Methods

How to combine strings

in task two of the code challenge of combining strings, the instructions are to complete the challenge to the userName variable by adding a # symbol followed by an all uppercase version of the lastName variable.

I followed the instructions, but received this message, Oops, It looks like task 2 is no longer passing. What am I missing?

app.js
var id = "23188xtr";
var lastName = "Smith";

var userName = id.toUpperCase(); + "#" + lastName.id.toUpperCase();
index.html

var id = "23188xtr";
var lastName = "Smith";

var userName = id.toUpperCase() + "#" + lastName.toUpperCase();

You added an extra semi colon after id.toUpperCase() and also added an extra .id to the lastName part.
