How to compress pictures for websites

Hi, all. I use pictures on my site. So, a question is - what programs, maybe, online free services, are available for getting images smaller? Because when I am accessing my page, I see that image content is downloading slowly due to its big size. Thank you in advance.

You can save the images for web with Photoshop or use some free software like "AdvanceCOMP 1.15" or "Caesium 1.4.1" if you're on windows. On mac you can try out "ImageOptim 1.4.0". Also if you're website is running on Wordpress you can use the "WP Smush. It" plugin which, let me tell, is great.

Thanks, for the answer! I also have another question. I want to have several images with same height and width. For instance, I want to show images side by side in a row. I can set width in a css, but their height won't be equal until they have initial same sizes. What a free tool (online or offline) would you recommend?
