How to convert a UIlabel to a string or a double ?

i'm having trouble converting those.

1 Answer

Hey Alain,

What I you want is to convert the text that's in a UILabel into a string or double. The following example will give you the answer to that using the NSNumberFormatter class.

@IBOutlet someLabel: UILabel! // assuming that the text displays 100.5

if let text = someLabel.text { // converting the labels display to a string value
   let numberFormatter = NSNumberFormatter()

   let theNumber = numberFormatter.numberFromString(text).doubleValue // the number is assigned the value of 100.5
}

Hope this helps. Happy coding :)

thank you !
