how to create a software

This question has really been disturbing me for some days now. I tried resulting to google to get answers but i wasnt satisfied. My question goes thus, I lastly completed the java track but i really want to start learning how to develop programs and or software in order to better my java. Please how do I start practicing to develop programs and or software? Also I need help on ways or access to practice exercises in order to help me be good in java?

I actually have a blog post coming tomorrow that shows ten sites where you can get coding practice. I'll link it when it's published.

One of my favorites sites for quick practice is Code Wars. Small kata like puzzles that will challenge you, but not too much to make you frustrated.

Also, check Up For Grabs as it's a way to get new people into open source projects.
