How to echo value in associative array?

Is the syntax incorrect here?

index.php
<?php

//Place your code below this comment

$colors = array();
$colors[] = "red";
$colors[] = "blue";
$colors[] = "green";

$favorite_colors = array(
    "mike" => $colors[2],
  "jane" => $colors[1],
  "chris" => $colors[0],
)

echo $favorite_colors["mike"];

?>

The challenge instructions typically include this notice: "Important: In each task of this code challenge, the code you write should be added to the code from the previous task."

But task 3 was "Now using the $colors array, echo the second value.". That step isn't being done by this code, perhaps it was accidentally removed while later task code was added?
