How to have the picture messages pre load?

Sometimes Parse takes some time when loading an image into the image view. My message self-destructs after 10 seconds but it spends a solid 4-5 seconds loading the actual picture.

I checked picasso to see if i could get a boolean value which i could then throw into an if statement but didnt find anything :(

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!
