I cannot seem to install Compass on terminal. Not sure what avenues to go down to help troubleshoot this problem. If anyone has knowledge to help solve this problem please let me know. I keep getting 'permission denied' when trying to install.

I tried running just a basic 'gem update system' and it returned that message. Could it be due to the fact I bought this laptop off someone and its still trying to use the past users account?
