How to put content for clients.....

Let me start by saying, I'm sorry if this was asked somewhere else already!

Anyway, I am building my skill set to become a web designer, but I am unsure about the exact content that should be delivered on a page. For example, once you design the web page or site, what do you put onto the site for the client vs what the client should put?

And if the client wants to add something, lets say, their "story", how would they go about doing this?

Thank you to anyone who can point me in the right direction!

Hi Richard,

You should design the website around the content. Not the other way round.

If the client wants to tell their story. You need to know what the story is first; who are the characters, what are the important parts of the story, what message(s) are you trying to get across?

You don't need to know the exact words that will appear on the page (the copy text) before you start the design. You just need to know the main points and themes so you can choose colors, typography, graphics etc. that relate to the story.

Hope this helps :)
