How to turn on error messages with workspaces?

Can someone remind me how to turn on error messages for workspaces? At the moment I'm just getting a "This page is not working" message which isn't very useful.

Feel like I'm wasting time hunting for a missing comma or bracket when error messages would at least tell me where to start looking.
