How to use prepareForSegue

I am using Swift 2 and I've used the spotlight api. The api works fine, it shows up in the spotlight, but there's one issue. When I tap on it, it doesn't take me to the desired view. How would I achieve this?

I have this code right now.

override func prepareForSegue(segue: UIStoryboardSegue, sender: AnyObject?) {

    if segue.identifier == "showAlg" {

        let AlgebraVC = segue.destinationViewController as! Algebra

    }
}
