10,865 PointsHow to work with Rails without scaffolds.
Dear Treehouse, In the past videos in the "Build a Simple Ruby on Rails Application", we dealt with scaffolds for users to post status updates. In teamtreehouse.com, it looks as if when you post the videos and maintain the site, it just looks like html, css, and js. What do I do when I dont need scaffolds, and want to create an application in rails, sort of like treehouse does?

Treehouse Guest TeacherHey Joseph, thanks for the question! Scaffolds are just one way to start building a Rails app. You can generate your own models, controllers, and views by hand if you want to. Scaffolds are meant to be a good start for that and not the finished product. They take out some of the repetition that you would face when creating your own controllers, models, views, etc.
