How was the webpage built; http://apps.npr.org/arrested-development/

Hello,

I am just curious as to what languages/ or programs was use to create this type of web design. The functionality and graphics are very interesting. Being a total newbie, I have no idea as to how this was create. Doing as much research as I could, the only clue I have is that information was placed into an excel first.

Any thoughts, or comments would be greatly appreciated! Thanks so much!

While it doesn't technically answer the question directly, here's a nifty tool for starting the search: http://builtwith.com/

Thank you so much! That helped alot.
