How was this Wordpress site set up?

http://swcta.net/

It's my schools site and I recognize how pages work in Wordpress and how blog posts work in Wordpress... Here's what I don't understand:

Under the "Faculty" tab, each teacher has their own mini-site you can go to. (Click http://swcta.net/changcl/ for the best example of this). How is this done?

Are these just blog posts made by the teacher as the author?

Hey Colton,

Presumably they're using Wordpress Multisite, which is basically multiple Wordpress sites set up on one Wordpress installation. This creates a Super Administrator that can install plug-ins and themes for all of the other sites, which all have their own administrators (the teachers) that have limited privileges as far as modification goes.

Another possibility is that they setup an installation of Wordpress in every subdirectory of the site. So http://swcta.net/abrego/ is its own installation of Wordpress, and http://swcta.net/annett/ is its own installation, and so on.
