href with css, confused about naming file hierarchy

My file structure looks like this

mysite

index.html

static

style.css

in index, I want to do this:

<link rel="stylesheet"  href="/static/style.css"  type="text/css"/>

Is your style.cssin thestatic` folder?

You got it almost right. Just remove the forward slash "/" before "static" like so:

<link rel="stylesheet" href="static/style.css" type="text/css">
