HTML5 Deep Dive?

Whatever happened to the HTML 5 deep dive? Has it been retired? How come it is no longer part of the web designer learning adventure?

Alcibiades Montas - I don't recall seeing an HTML5 course on Treehouse in the past few months. There is an HTML Deep Dive, that's still part of the learning adventure.

Maybe Nick Pettit can comment on if there was an HTML5 course in ages past.

Well I am not sure if it was HTML5 but there were two classes on HTML and two classes on CSS. I saw that the classes on CSS were removed and instead the new CSS foundations have been put into place but the second HTML (probably advanced HTML or something) is no longer place and I wonder what happened.

I was going to ask something similar myself - I've heard that HTML5 is super powerful and is pretty making flash animation (for web) redundant.

So far apart from the odd change in syntax and the ability to drop small bits off such as the type= property I don't feel like I've seen anything too disimilar to the HTML I knew years ago

I'd love to see some of its more powerful capabilities!

The learning adventure definitely had two modules on HTML (unless I am going bunkers) and now it just has one......

Spen Taylor - In the mean time I suggest you check out HTML5 and you to learn more about the new fancier features of HTML5.

Hi everyone,

Indeed, there used to be an HTML5 Deep Dive but we had to remove it because it became outdated. HTML5 evolves pretty fast!

We're trying to get away from the distinction between CSS vs CSS3 and HTML vs HTML5. Instead, we're just calling those HTML and CSS without citing a "version" number (which, is not really the right way to think about it). In the new CSS Foundations, there's tons of CSS3 content covered. We also cover HTML5 in various other areas of the site, particularly in our Bonus Content, and we plan to add more HTML5 content moving forward.

Hi Nick Pettit thank you very much for your response. I am halfway through the web-design learning adventure. Which HTML5 related videos do you recommend I look once I am done with the adventure. I have the next two weeks off and could feasibly tackle the whole adventure before then. If there are any resources outside of treehouse that you would think are worthwhile such as the one that James Barnett mentioned above I would greatly appreciate it also.

One more thing! And a very minor one at that....I have been following the learning adventure and was looking forward to seeing the "Reward Videos" I was getting....now that the timeline has been updated I suspect that the "Reward videos" are out of order as well....may want to take a look!

Hi Alcibiades Montas,

I think you would get a lot out of HTML5 Mobile Web Applications and Code Racer.

Our Reward Videos are currently tied to earning badges, so they shouldn't ever appear out of order (if they are appearing out of order, then it's a bug and we'd love to hear more detail about it). Every few badges you earn, regardless of whether you earn them in order or not, you unlock the next chapter.

Thanks Nick Pettit !!! I'll start working on these in a few weeks.
