HTML5 Mobile UI: UI Components: Part 1: Using emulator or trying HTML5 project in your phone

Hi,

http://teamtreehouse.com/library/html5-mobile-web-applications/html5-mobile-ui-ui-components-part-1

In the video above for developing a HTML5 app, Jim Hoskins uses a simulator for an IPhone, can somebody explain to me how to do that. In the video we are just using a text editor and not eclipse, so I have no idea how this is done.

Any help will be most welcome.

Mikel

Hey Mikel,

I'm pretty sure that Jim is using the iPhone Simulator that comes is bundled with the iPhone SDK/Xcode. If you're not running a Mac or don't have the iPhone Simulator or Xcode, then -- well, you don't have the iPhone Simulator!

If you have a Mac and the iPhone Simulator app, then you can try to open the app and run Safari from the virtual iPhone. If not, you can try hosting the project on a web server and accessing it from your physical mobile devise. (I can talk you through that, if that approach interests you.)

Hope this clears everything up!

Best,

–J.
