If i understand correctly, and if you want to do it very simple, just wrap the content in a main div, and set the background color for that div.

Mmmm i dont know much about JS, but if you want to build a PHP dynamic website, yes you need to at least finish the CSS Foundation, despite i've made some dynamic websites with php, css & html, i still learn things from that course, so don't think about it as wasted time, we learn something new everyday, and if i remember correctly there're a couple of modules in CSS Foundations of different methods to layout, also you can see the course of CSS Layout Techniques.

PD: But is always good if you made little snippets and stuff like that to apply and practice the new knowledge acquired.

And just remember that learning a language like PHP is far more hard than learning css or html, so it requires more time and effort.

iOS development language is C-, and is very different from any other language, sure is a C based language and object oriented but is completely different, i recommend that you first center 110% of your attention either in one or another, but don't try to be a master in everything at the same time, 'cause you're gonna end with nothing at all, make priorities, think what do you like most, and focus on that.

FYI: yes, with PHP you can make shops, things like facebook and stuff like that

In the website course the aesthetics, ux basics and design foundations courses will help a lot, but if you want to yo further with design for website you should read Psychology of web design book by smashing magazine.

Just have in mind that designing is a whole different world, so at least you'll have to learn some of its basics and some software like Photoshop, etc.

What im trying to do is to put an background-image in side bar that will repeat till the end when the website lenght change , so what i want to do is if somebody post a big article , the sidebar will expand in middle and will fill out till bottom with the image.

Oh, by wasted time i mean by going throw the entire training course and not learning anything or enought because of lack of practice. So with PHP could i make a website with different users ? or shop website? SO when somebody logs in , he will have his account like FB does and he than could upload pictures and all that stuff. My Goal is to make a dynamic website with JS by September but my owerall goal is to be able to make a dynamic website with HTML/CSS , JS and PHP but i want to know if its reall because i dont want to put me off and well, i promessed to my mum what i will achive but as hearing JS and PHP is different than HTML and CSS ill would like to know how much time ill need to spend. What i want to do is to be able to make any kind of websites , kind of medium complicated i guess maybe saying that FB is complicated and then i want to move to App developement . , im going to college and they dont learn anything there and i want to go to University for programming but since i can learn here by paing 250pound per year , ill use this and i have two years so im very limited , i know 2 years is short for apps but at least to make good websites and get started witha good , solid understand and malipulate code in APP , im just in very hard situation of choosing what to do and i dont have time aswell to think about it , i just want to learn and then put my ideas out there , well not only because of money but i started it because i like it , the creativity and the code its self is nice thoughtit get boring in css sometimes and well , do you think is it a good idea to learn Websites and then IOS or could i learn both at the same time ? or will it get messed up ?

Oh well i really wanted to do iOS but since i spend quiet a bit in websites HTML and CSS i want to finish it so i can do website i want and then move straight away to apps but thank you for advice , i think ill learn PHP first since im more intrested in that if thats a good idea . BDW do you have any websites online i could see? and do you know any good design course that will help me actualy develop my skill with colors etc..? im really bad with it design . You know, iwant to make a website and then make it also related with and app like facebook does or you know something like that so ill need to learn this and this anyways but well i really like it but cant wait to start with iOS ,i hope 2 months are enought for PHP? Can i ask how long did it take you to learn how to manage PHP and PHP Admin and all that stuff?

I just need a pretty straight forward graphics for my webistes making like icons and matching colors as my friends says that i match colors like uhh even my mum , im just the worst designer ever and with colors uhh.. So Assuming it all , ill need to go throw CSS Foundationto make flexibile layouts and ill be okay, Learn basics of design and learn photoshop and for fast moving i should learn PHP for database etc , sounds quite alot counting in months : P step by step uh , Do you recomend to study design and Developer together ?
