Java Java Objects Harnessing the Power of Objects Computed Properties

I am checking barCount in my if-else statement but the notice says I am not checking this.

public boolean isBatteryEmpty(){ if (barCount = 0){ return true;} else{ return false;} }

I am trying to get it to return true if the battery is at zero which we know if the barCount is at 0.

GoKart.java
class GoKart {
  public static final int MAX_BARS = 8;
  private String color;
  private int barCount;

  public GoKart(String color) {
    this.color = color;
  }

  public boolean isBatteryEmpty(){
   if (barCount = 0){
     return true;} else{
     return false;}
  }

  public String getColor() {
    return color;
  }

  public void charge() {
    barCount = MAX_BARS;
  }
}
