i can only get one item to be added to the database.txt file before the repl resets

i have the code written correctly. i run it in the repl and and it asks "what should i remember" so i add an item. but unlike in the video, when i hit enter it doesnt ask 'what should i remember' again it just shows a blank prompt and when i try to add another item it gives me the error "bash: stuff: command not found"

not sure why it would be doing this with the code being so short and hard to mess up.
