I cannot view my portfolio page when I set up a custom portfolio piece..the path I used follows the same convention

Can someone please assist me? Thank you please.

Do you mean the archive page or the custom post type? I had a problem getting the menu link working which turned out to be that in my setup I needed to use one '/' in stead of '//' as was shown in the video (/template-hierarchy.com/portfolio/).
