I don't know what to do at this task. I have tried some things but it didn't work

Hi there,

you can use the TextView to get the input and assign it to the String variable.

The code could look like this:

String petName = petNameField.getText().toString();
// use the TextView variable to call the getText() method
// getText() method will return the text that was typed into the TextView
// convert this text into a String using toString() method
