I don't really understand what this question is trying to get me to do!

This is the question:

Check if each student has a GPA of 4.0.

If the student has a GPA of 4.0, use the student name variable to replace NAME when displaying the following line:

NAME made the Honor Roll

ELSE If the students GPA is not equal to 4.0, within an else block, use the student name variable to replace NAME AND the student GPA variable to replace STUDENT GPA when displaying the following line:

NAME has a GPA of STUDENT GPA

Please see my code for how I have attempted to answer it!

Any help would be much appreciated!

index.php
<?php
$studentOneName = 'Dave';
$studentOneGPA = 3.8;

$studentTwoName = 'Treasure';
$studentTwoGPA = 4.0;

//Place your code below this comment
if ($studentOneGPA >= 4.0){
  $studentOneName = "made the Honor Roll";}
else {
  echo $studentOneName . " has a GPA of " . $studentOneGPA;
}
if ($studentTwoGPA >= 4.0){
  $studentTwoName = "made the Honor Roll";}
else {
  echo $studenTwoName . " has a GPA of " . $studentTwoGPA;
}
?>

You've got the right idea, and you're pretty close, but there are two issues:

  • the variables should not be reassigned, both cases should have echo statements
  • there's a spelling error with "studenTwoName" (missing a "t") instead of "studentTwoName"

Thanks for your help. I have been paying for a bit since I posted the request for help....nice to see I am moving in the right direction....but it's still not working!

My latest:

<?php
$studentOneName = 'Dave';
$studentOneGPA = 3.8;

$studentTwoName = 'Treasure';
$studentTwoGPA = 4.0;

//Place your code below this comment
if ($studentOneGPA >= 4.0){
 echo $studentOneName . " made the Honor Roll";}
else {
  echo $studentOneName . " has a GPA of " . $studentOneGPA;
}

if ($studentTwoGPA >= 4.0){
 echo $studentTwoName . " made the Honor Roll";
} else {
  echo $studentTwoGPA . " has a GPA of " . $studentTwoGPA;
}
?>

Almost there! But now the first term on the last line should be "studentTwo‍Name" instead of "studentTwoGPA".   :see_no_evil:
