I have a div with a nested <UL> whose border is spilling out on the right. whats goin on??

The margin for that div is set to - margin: 0 10px 30px;. Try removing the margin for that div or setting it to 0. The preceding div has its margin set to 0.

That works in Chrome inspector.

thanks Shawn. I am trying to get a little space from the sides of the browser and the ".helpful" class element. Ill keep playing with it.

If you want to add a little space to the sides of the helpful div, try reducing the width to 90% or so and centering it with margin: 0 auto;. Maybe something like this:

.helpful {
    width: 90%;
    margin: 0 auto;
    padding: 25px 0;
    font-size: 1.2em;
    text-align: center;
    border: 2px solid black;
}
