General Discussion

I have a good idea for a website and would like some suggestions on where to start!

I am a still working on beginning CSS with Treehouse so nowhere near ready to code my idea. I thought someone on here might be able to point me in the right direction for help developing my website and possible application within the next couple months. I would like to work with someone over the long-term rather than just pay a developer because the site will definitely need continued support and I want to learn as I go for future projects.

Thanks in advance to anyone who knows of any resources that would be helpful!

Thanks for the advice!

Jonathan Grieve - I agree, I will keep going with Treehouse. Yet this project is a bit more time sensitive and the website is more complicated than my capacities for the moment. The site I want to develop will include many aspects I haven't even begun to touch upon yet. I've been told it is considered a 'dynamic' site. Although if all goes how I envision in my head it will be quite simple and useful for my target market---so hopefully I can turn dream into reality!

anthony crowell - Great idea for sketching the ideas down. I have started. It may help me to identify better all the assets I will need for the site. Thanks!

Hi Tori, that's great, coming up with a good idea is the start. I would recommend starting by trouble shooting your idea and determining what type of crowd you want to target as well as the media that you want to relay your message. I would also sketch out some of your ideas and get an idea of the assets you want to use, like colors, fonts, typography, mascot. Then start from the smallest first, if it's a cell phone design for that and build up. Hope this helps

The best thing then if you want to go long term is just carry on with Treehouse.

We have web courses on Treehouse for design (All the CSS and Design courses you'll need) Courses in JavaScript for Front End Development, and PHP for server side scriptimg.

For more dynamic sites you're looking at sites built on languages like Ruby and Python.

What kind of site are you wanting to develop?
