Oooh with the new skills we can build a little Twitter like app. I've created a new tweet class, let's write the 140 characters story.
Add a new constant that defines the max chars allowed and set it 140. Use proper case for constants. Ensure it is accessible off the class, and that it cannot be changed.
public class Tweet {
private String text;
public Tweet(String text) {
this.text = text;
}
public String getText() {
return text;
}
public void setText(String text) {
this.text = text;
}
}

231,272 PointsSometimes it can be helpful to break the instructions down into smaller steps:
- Add a new constant…
- …that defines the
max chars
allowed clearly a hint about what the name should be - …and set it 140 so this will be an int type, and assign the literal value 140 to it (
= 140
) - Use proper case for constants… the convention is all UPPER CASE words with underscores between
- Ensure it is accessible off the class… it will need to be declared public and static
- …and that it cannot be changed it will also need to be declared final
Can you do it now?
