General Discussion

I just completed "How to build a website."

I am not sure which track to begin next.

Maha;

What are you interested in doing, or what did you find especially interesting in the How to build a Website Course?

Ken

I am interested in building my own website, ideally an ecommerce website. I checked out the "How to build your own ecommerce website" on treehouse but found it difficult to follow along. I think the woo commerce website has changed a lot since the video was made.

Might I recommend the Web Design track?

I began Rails Development but felt lost in the javascript videos. Maybe I jumped ahead. I will definitely check this track out, thank you.

You can never go wrong by picking a track and moving forward.

I tried out different tracks but within minutes felt lost. Some videos are great at providing guidance and background knowledge and others not so much.

At times you will feel lost, but that is ok it takes time (I have had to rewatched the videos a few times). I have never programed before. I have chosen the Ruby on Rails because I would like to make a web app, and learned the HTML and CSS to make sure it looks good and appeals to people who are going to use it. (I still go back from time to time if i forget things like MYSQL)

E-commerce sounds like your current goal. The PHP track will empower you to build your site exactly the way you would like it to function. Most e commerce site are made in php example Prestashop, Magento and WooCommers.

My advice is to focus on what they are saying and as you complete the lessons things will start making sense.

Plus we are always here to help you.

Thanks Kevin! These forums are great since I always have tons of questions every time I watch a video.

I find it all very interesting. But because of my current goal I will start the PHP track. I didn't even know what that track was for, so thank you.
