I thought 3.3em was the right size.. every converter i can find says so

It's 3.3125em, which converter are you using, it may be rounding down to one decimal place.

h2 {
  font-size:  3.3125em;

The one I use: http://px-em.com/ - Set Parent px to 16.

It is easy enough to calculate without a converter though: Just do 53 / 16 = 3.3125.

Or some people even do this:

body {
   font-size: 62.5%;

h2 {
   font-size: 5.3em

By declaring font-size: 62.5% to the whole page, you only need to divide the px size by 10 to work out the em size, which is a lot easier.

The forumula behind it : 53 / ((16 / 100)*62.5) = 5.3em
