I want learn TreeHouse HTML Game Development without a framework

I am looking to get into game development, after a lot of searching I have decided to try with html5 and, while I can see the advantages of frameworks, I would like to learn TreeHouse the basics without a "crutch".

Is it realistic to even try and start learning game development without using a framework? Also, if I decide to use one, what should I consider when deciding on one?

Joesph;

Welcome to Treehouse!

I am not a game developer and have not seen specific HTML related game development info on Treehouse. Perhaps Nick Pettit would have some helpful insights on HTML game development.

Best wishes,
Ken
