IDEA: Customizing your profile page.

Hey guys! Michael here, So I just Treehouse a couple of days ago and as of yet. I love it! I have been in internet marketing for two years now and everything is in the up and up.

The website is still pretty basic. Which is neat =] Its not to much (so it looks spammy) and its not to less (where it looks like it is from 1990). One thing that would be really cool would be a profile customization page. For example my page is http://teamtreehouse.com/michaelfied

  • Change avatar
  • Put on there - How much time we have spent on Treehouse, how many times we have logged in.
  • Customize the background - Either pick from premade templates or an option to upload your own. (Must be approved first)

If you guys have any other ideas I would love to hear them!

Hi Michael and welcome to treehouse!

It's already possible to change your avatar. At least when you are using gravatar.com, as far as I know.

I must say I like the basic layout of the profile as it is, so I don't know how I'm feeling about the customization idea. Especially when you can change the colors or background, I think this might be too disrupting to the overall look of the treehouse-site.

BUT I was thinking about some changes to the profile page, too. I would love a feature where you can link not only to some social sites but to websites or projects you've worked on.

Matthias - I like the idea of sharing projects you've worked on.

A good site to link to would be codepen.io as we can already link to github & dribble. That covers most of the bases of a new project, you could show off your visual design, CSS, ruby on rails skills.

Hey Michael! I know the app team has some very exciting things that are in the works for the profile page :) I'll let them speak to it, but we're definitely on it!

We love all of your suggestions, so thank you!
