Java

IllegalArgumentException, Bummer looks like you did not catch the exception.

I have been tasked this: The code in Main.java is going to throw an IllegalArgumentException when the drive method is called. Catch it and warn the user.

this is my code:

public class Main { public static void main(String[] args) { GoKart kart = new GoKart("yellow"); if (kart.isBatteryEmpty()) { System.out.println("The battery is empty"); } kart.drive(2);

     try {
      kart.drive(10);
       System.out.println("This will never happen");

} catch (IllegalArgumentException iae) { System.out.println("Whoa There!"); System.out.printf("The error was: %s\n", iae.getMessage()); } } }

But im getting: Bummer! Looks like you didn't catch the exception.

How can i fix this and why does my code not work.

It is the statement

 kart.drive(2);

that throws the exception and since this is not inside your try block, you do not catch that exception.
