I'm confused as to why I'm receiving a syntax error on this.

Isn't this what the question is asking about or maybe I'm interpreting the question wrong.

routes.rb
Rails.application.routes.draw do
  get '/pets', to: 'pets#index' as: 'pets'


end

You're really close. All that is missing is a comma, needed to separate the as argument from the rest.
