Java Java Objects Creating the MVP Scrabble Tiles

I'm failing to understand the question,

I answered the question using an if else statement but the platform needs me to give the solution in a way I didn't understand

ScrabblePlayer.java
public class ScrabblePlayer {
  // A String representing all of the tiles that this player has
  private String tiles;

  public ScrabblePlayer() {
    tiles = "";
  }

  public String getTiles() {
    return tiles;
  }

  public void addTile(char tile) {
    // TODO: Add the tile to tiles

    tiles += tile;
  }

  public boolean hasTile(char tile) {
    // TODO: Determine if user has the tile passed in
    boolean hasTile;
    if (tiles.indexOf(tile) > -1){
      hasTile = true;
    } else{
     hasTile = false;
    }

    return hasTile;
  }

}

The error message asks you to return the value of the expression. Since:

(tiles.indexOf(tile) > -1)

evaluates to true or false depending on the existence of the tile, the result of this expression can be returned without the need for an if statement and additional variable.

public boolean hasTile(char tile) {
    // TODO: Determine if user has the tile passed in
    return tiles.indexOf(tile) > -1;
  }
