I'm not sure about what's wrong with my repeating shortcut.

I don't know what I'm doing wrong. Can someone help me, please?

Try add this instead - grid-template-columns: repeat( auto-fit, minmax(300px, 1fr) );

It's just a typo there should not be any space between repeat and ( auto-fit, minmax(300px, 1fr).

Good luck
