I'm not sure why it won't validate. I ran the code in my python instance on my machine and it worked fine.

import random

start = 5

def even_odd(num): # If % 2 is 0, the number is even. # Since 0 is falsey, we have to invert it with not. return not num % 2

while start: mynum = random.randit(1, 99) if even_odd(mynum): print("{} is even".format(mynum)) else: print("{} is odd".format(mynum))

start = start - 1

Hi ! Please refer to the markdown cheatsheet in order to display properly some code, it will be easier for us to help, because as you know Python is really sensitive to indentation :) Whatever, I wasn't able to spot any error in your code but, here is a solution for you :

import random

start = 5

def even_odd(num):
    return not num % 2

while start:
    mynum= random.randint(1, 99)
    if even_odd(mynum):
        print("{} is even".format(mynum))
    else:
        print("{} is odd".format(mynum))
    start -= 1

I guess the problem in your code was probably the indentation on line with the decrementation of start
