I'm not understanding how to add the .toUpperCase to my variable userName

Is id.toUpperCase() the correct way to make the variable id uppercase?

var id = "23188xtr";
var lastName = "Smith";
id.toUpperCase() 
var userName

You almost have it, Dallas. But you forgot to set it as the value of the var userName. Like so:

var id = "23188xtr"; var lastName = "Smith";

var userName = id.toUpperCase();

you have missed the semicolon at the end try it by doing this

you can see your result by verifying it in console

var id = "23188xtr"; var lastName = "Smith"; console.log(id.toUpperCase());
