JavaScript JavaScript Basics (Retired) Storing and Tracking Information with Variables Capturing Visitor Input and Writing It to the Page

I'm not understanding why the code is not working

var answer = prompt('what day is it?');

It is saying to create a var but not to add a value yet. So all you have to do is declare a variable named answer:

var answer

Hope that helps.

The prompt() method will perform immediately and returns the input value (it will store it in answer variable) if the user clicks "OK". If the user clicks "cancel" the method returns null.
