I'm really not sure why this isn't working

app.js
var inputValue = document.getElementById("linkName");
index.html
<!DOCTYPE html>
<html>
    <head>
        <title>DOM Manipulation</title>
    </head>
    <link rel="stylesheet" href="style.css" />
    <body>
        <div id="content">
            <label>Link Name:</label>
            <input type="text" id="linkName">
            <a id="link" href="https://teamtreehouse.com"></a>
        </div>
        <script src="app.js"></script>
    </body>
</html>

Hi James. They give you a clue to watch the previous video. You need to get the value of the input. Try adding .value to the end.
