Hey Sarah Schaeffer 👋

Are you using Safari by any chance? While looking into your issue I came across this community post which confirms that there is an issue with Google Sheets when using Safari and they are actively working on a fix. I tried following along with Travis his instructions in 4 different browsers and am encountering the exact same thing you're describing in Safari. Other browsers seem to be working perfectly fine so for the time being you might want to give that a shot 🙂

Hope this helps!

Hey there Sarah Schaeffer !

I just followed the steps of importing the csv along with the video and didn't hit any issues. Is your spreadsheet remaining blank?

It may take a few moments for it to appear as it is a large amount of data.

Also, did you choose the "append to current spreadsheet" option when importing?

Yes it is just remaining blank and continuously says saving. I followed all the steps and was able to import it but was not able to move the spreadsheet or click on anything. Thank you for responding. I will try again.

I have tried several more times and still no success. I was able to open it in the Numbers app but not able to follow along with the video as the apps are different.

I'm so sorry you're still hitting this issue, it's very strange! Just to be super clear, here is the exact steps I took on my end.

  • Download the .csv file from the Teacher's Notes
  • Go to Google Sheets and create a New Blank Sheet
  • File > Import > Upload > Browse
  • Select the .csv from my Downloads folder
  • Changed "Import Location" to "Append to Current Sheet"
  • Kept "Separator Type" as "Detect Automatically" & left "Convert text to numbers, dates, and formulas" as checked.
  • Import Data button / waited for data to appear

After that I am able to click on / edit the cells. Is this the same process that you tried?
