importing bourbon into my project

hi have downloaded and installed bourbon, and the bourbon file is in my root folder of my project. which file do i need to use to import it to use in my project, i have my file set up with my sass file, with a base folder with the normal files such as index, variables, extend etc, a layouts folder, header, footer folder etc, then i have my applications.scss in the root of the sass folder itself. can someone please help me :D

dont worry i worked it out... i was importing it in the right place.... my applications.scss but i wasnt putting it at the beginning of my imports.
