Importing XML File to Illustrator- Names not showing up.

I imported the Xml document into illustrator and when i go to scroll through the names in the library the business card doesn't change in the video. Someone please help cause I have no idea what's happening.

Hey Matthew,

I'm not sure why it happens other than it may be a bug in Illustrator, the same thing is happing to me I'm currently using 19.1.0 or CC 2015.1. But I did find a work around.

After importing the xml file you will notice that the information in the Objects column of the variables window has disappeared for what ever reason, but the information in the Variables column remains. If you click on "name" in the variables column then with the selection tool, select text field "John Doesky" then click the "Make Text Dynamic" icon it will relink the information. Repeat this for address, phone and email and every thing will work like on the video.

Also once you fix the text flow problem for the address you can repeat the above steps to amend the address variable instead of creating a new variable and deleting the old one.

Hope this helps

Thank you so much for the in depth response! There must have been a bug or something cause i just tried it again like the way he did in the video and it worked. I appreciate your response.
