28,690 PointsHave you created a database on your host, either via cpanel or phpMyAdmin?
Is the database name you've created on your host the same name as the database that is referenced in wp-config.php?
Please ensure that both the above steps are completed and if you are still having issues let us know so that some more troubleshooting may be done.

From the Wordpress Installation Troubleshooting page it states you may have to reset the user password for the database.
Of note, on that page as well, it suggets to check to see if you have an auto-installer in your cPanel such as Softaculous.

165 PointsIsn't it so frustrating? I'm in the middle of the "famous 5-minute install", which is going way beyond 5 minutes at the moment, but so far so good. Hardest part was figuring how to get into my root-directory via ftp (strongly recommend FileZilla, that's working best for me).

7,335 PointsI just tried to install manually. I updated the wp-config.php with the database info I created via cpanel, and uploaded the files to the public_html via filezilla. When I go to (sitename).com/wp-admin I get this:
Fatal error: Call to undefined function is_multisite() in /home/cotothco/public_html/wp-includes/default-constants.php on line 20

7,335 PointsI think I realize what I did. I went into the wordpress folder and uploaded all the files/folders in there into public_html, instead of uploading the wordpress folder itself.

6,124 PointsI got the same error. However, I found that the solution is to first install the mySQL server through the wizard, and then you can install WordPress.
So maybe the video should be updated to list that step first.
