Is it possible to integrate the Rails app with sharepoint 2010? If yes, can you tell me the process?

This is an extremely broad question. The broad answer is to use Rails along with Sharepoint Web Services.

You'll need to use SOAP to work with Sharepoint Web Services -- the savon gem is one option -- instead of JSON and HTTP, but it should be straightforward enough to work through step-by-step.
