Doesn't show or tell you how to open index.html.. Help please...

You can open it with most code and text editors.

Not sure what you mean by open - to edit or to view in the browser? As above - you can edit in a number of editors, emac, vim, textedit, nano, sublime. To see the result in the browser look under the File->Open menu item (or something like that) and browse to the file location.
