irb is not recognizing my name as a variable.

treehouse:~/workspace$ irb irb(main):001:0> name - "Jessica B" results in NameError: undefined local variable or method name' for main:Object from (irb):2 from /usr/local/bin/irb:11:in<main>'

what is this, why does it keep happening how can I get it to recognize my name?
