Python Python Sequences Sequence Iteration Iterating with Ranges

Is it possible to assign a random step in the range function?

for example..... for i in range(0,100,random)?

1 Answer

Sort of, but maybe not in the way you intended. You can pick the step randomly, but it will use the same step over the whole range. If you want it to increase by a random amount, then a different random amount, I think you'll need to implement the range yourself.

from random import randint

for i in range(0,20,randint(1,5)):

That will give you something like 0, 3, 6, 9, 12...
