Is it redundant to use both readonly and make the field private?

If my field is already private, is it necessary to also make it readonly?

Thanks in advance!

namespace TreehouseDefense
{
   class Tower
   {
       private readonly MapLocation _location;

   }

}

Evan Welch private ensures that it can only be accessed by it's class but readonly makes sure that it can't be accidentally changed
