Is ruby language dying?

Hi,

I am a newbie in programming and I am choosing Ruby as my first language. But, I have read some articles and heard from my friends that the Ruby language is slowly dying and will be ignored after 10 years.

I chose Ruby because I find the language easy and so called sexy and straight forward and I believe the potential of this language. Also, I want to build a website in which I can use it to preach the Gospel of Christ.

Please enlighten me guys.

Thank you.

Ruby on rails is an extremely popular framework built on ruby for building web applications and is certainly not dying. I however prefer python as it too has a very simple syntax and is perfect for beginners and for building games using the popular pygame library. I cant name many uses of ruby other than web apps but I am sure there are some, its not the most demanded programming language, thats for sure, however it has its uses.

Hope this helps ... hopefully?
